Home Security Alarm

There are a few different types of security alarm systems which can be chosen for your type of home and your needs. The most used security systems are usually those which set off an alarm when a door or window is opened. Some are wireless while others use infared beams.

Detectors range in type from glass break detectors, to ultrasonic detectors, to code alarms, partition and handshake options.

Code Alarm Systems

These are units which can only be operated once accessed by a code, usually a combination of numbers. This means that anyone who knows the code can use the panel, which has obvious advantages and disadvantages.

Monitoring Alarm Systems

Monitoring alarm systems differ from many others in that your home security is not completely autonomous. Instead a monitoring company, most likely the one which set up the system in the first place, is notified of any intruders or problems and can take action.

The usual way of monitoring these is by phone, but other methods are used such as cellular monitoring and radio.

Zone Security systems

Zone security systems operate on the premise that most homes or residences are separated into rooms, which can constitute areas or zones. This is a more specific type of alarm system where certain groups of rooms, or zones are alarmed. This can be useful in larger houses, or those which need additional security in certain rooms.

Keypad Alarm Systems

Keypad alarm systems are similar to those which are code operated, as they need a simple code or key inserted to turn on or off. Unlike those which may have a separate remote, fob or keyboard into which to put the code, keypad alarm systems have the input device on the system itself.

Having the keypad on the system gives users freedom to make very specific requests of their security system, such as turning different parts of it on and off at various times, or ensuring it only operates over certain zones.

Away Arming

Away Arming security systems are aware whenever the property is left by the owner, so that the entire security system will automatically come on and protect the house. This can be a useful tool for those who may be too busy to stop and turn on the alarm every time they leave the house, and even better for those who may be forgetful.

Stay Arming

This method of home security means that the borders of the property are protected but there can be freedom of movement for those who are within the perimeter. This means the edges cannot be breached by intruders but those inside won’t have to worry about setting off the alarm inadvertently.

Partition Alarm systems

Partition Alarm systems can be very useful both in the home as well as any extensions or separate buildings which need to be kept secure. These separate areas of the property can still be protected even if there is only one phone line as the unit is given the instruction to turn each partition on or off separately from any others.
